Tooting Our Horn

February 27, 2012

Well I am going to take this moment to toot our own horn. Green Connection takes a lot of pride in being a source of knowledge about interior plants.  We weren’t born with this knowledge and it doesn’t just absorb through our fingers when we touch plants. We work really hard and try to keep ahead of the game on continuing education.

Recently, we had a few more of our tropical plant technicians join the ranks of the PLANET landscape industry certified. This is just one of the certifications we require of our plant people to make sure they really know their stuff. Certification enhances an individual’s professionalism, demonstrates a sense of personal achievement, and increases respect and recognition in the profession.

The PLANET certification program, Landscape Industry Certified, is supported and used internationally, shows credibility and commitment to best practices, and leaves a lasting impression. In fact, the International Certification Council (ICC) has worked to align the PLANET certification program with national standards and follow a robust strategic planning initiative.

We also require our technicians to earn a pesticide applicator’s license through the State of Alaska and Department of Environmental Conservation. In addition, Green Connection has a career path which further requires our technicians to learn and grow in the interior horticulture field.

The following Green Connection plant technicians are now Landscape Industry Certified:

  • Kaethe

  • Jill

  • Cristine

  • Vicki

  • Jenn

  • Amanda

If your plant technician is listed above, please feel free to congratulate them on their success and hard work. We’re proud of them too!
