As promised in last month’s blog here are a few possibilities, thoughts and opinions on container styles and options.
Just like shoes complete an outfit, the container completes the plant. Even a less than stellar plant can become amazing with the right container. The great thing about current container options is the versatility. Containers come in all kinds of shapes, sizes and colors. I am going to take some time to highlight a few key uses that plants and containers can provide to go beyond the simple container styles of traditional and modern.
Visual and Physical Barriers - Need to break up a space or create a barrier? There are some great containers in different lengths and widths to create the exact barrier size you need. Then you can use different heights and styles of plants create different kinds of appearances to the barriers. They can achieve anything from a visual barrier to a traffic barrier to a nice back drop. If you don’t want to permanently close off a space, this is a great alternative to an accordion screen.
Large Spaces – Large containers with plants are the perfect filler for that big dead space that doesn’t have a good use. One large plant can create a greater impact than 10 small ones. A single plant and container can completely transform a space to create a welcoming environment.
Narrow Space – Have you ever had one of those corners that you just don’t know what to do with? It is too narrow for most uses and just creates a dead space in the room. With a tall container and the right plant that corner can enhance the overall look of the area. Having a plant there also prevents the corner from becoming a dumping ground for that random stuff you don’t know what to do with.
Unique – Are you looking for living art or something to tie with your unique style? Plants come in all kinds of unique styles and shapes and the containers do as well. These shapes and styles can provide you a piece of living “art” perfect for your individual styles. The right container color can also tie the picture on a wall to the overall room.
Hopefully this has helped the creative juices to flow for new options for your space and your plants!
