I am excited to share our new plant obsession to our fellow garden enthusiasts. Miniature gardens and terrariums! They are the perfect thing for our indoor garden needs. They might be just the thing to tide you over till you can get your summer gardening fix. They can be personalized and created based on each person's individual styles.
There are a few differences between the two tabletop options:
Mini Gardens – These are gardens you create in a small dish, bowl or similar container. They are meant to mimic an exterior garden setting complete with benches, houses, fences, swings, ponds, gnomes, dinosaurs and fairies. OK the last few you may not see walking outside on a regular basis but with these mini gardens feel free to use your imagination! The plants chosen are very miniature and are meant to grow small. It is possible to use herbs or mini lettuces to create a harvest-able garden year round.
Terrariums – These are often enclosed containers (usually glass) that hold unique plants that require higher humidity than is allowed in our normal environment. Some can be completely self contained but generally you will need to open them to prune, water and care for the plants.
We will have a few follow up blogs offering step by step instructions and tips for creating your own mini garden or terrarium.
